1 Document Scope
Info
This procedure shows how to test EMS4 electronic boards and applies to the following IIT code :
- 4546.X EMS4, IIT - Electronic board, Ethernet Motor Supervisor (EMS) board, with Cortex-M4 processor
2 Requirements
2.1 Hardware Requirements
- Test equipment

[IITCODE 4912.B]- Regarding the test equipment, it is important to note that the ESD CAN-USB device must have the

with the supplier code2064.02
. Using other versions might lead to CAN communication errors while executing tests.

- Power supply 60Vdc@5A
- PC with Windows 10 connected to internet and, at least, one USB port
2.2 Software Requirements
- ETS test suite for the EMS4 board

3 Test Procedure
Warning
Handle the test setup taking care to not break thin wires and connectors
3.1 Installing ETS test suite
- Double click on “EMS4_installer.exe” and follow the wizard. This will install the test suite and other software required for the test (refer to the user manual for further information)
3.2 Setup Connections
Referring to the picture below, follow the steps :
1. Connect the serial USB adapter calbe to the PC and to the test setup
2. Connect the test setup to the power supply
3. Connect the setup’s molex connectors to the EMS4 under test
4. Connect the setup’s flyng connector to the EMS4 under test
3.3 Board Labeling
Place a label with the correct serial number on the board like in the picture below.
Warning
When you enter the serial number into the test software, it is permanently written in memory (OTP), and you cannot change it without replacing the component.
3.4 Run Test Procedure
- Double click on the
EMS4 test
icon on the desktop or under Programs menu - Follow the instructions given by the software
3.5 Test Report
Info
All test reports are saved in [Installation Path]/EMS4_TEST/Reports under Failed or Passed depending on the test result.
